Start Your Training the Right Way: With a Personalized Consultation in Your Home
Before we dive into any private training or boarding program, we begin with a one-on-one consultation in your home. This is where Ashlin gets to know your dog, your family, and your lifestyle, so we can create a plan that actually works in your real life.

The First Step to a Better Life with Your Dog
Every dog and every family, is different. That’s why we don’t believe in cookie-cutter training plans.
The initial consultation is our chance to sit down together, get clear on your goals, and uncover the challenges standing in your way.
Think of this as your blueprint session: where understanding meets strategy, and where we set you and your dog up for long-term success.
Why Most Training Doesn't Stick
You may have already tried:
Following tips online
Buying books or courses
Working with trainers who didn’t consider your home environment
And yet… the problems remain.
It’s not because you’re doing something wrong. It’s because most approaches don’t factor in your daily reality. Training that isn’t tailored to your dog and your family simply doesn’t stick.

“I found Ashlin through her Instagram and followed her for a while before reaching out to use her services for our black lab, Ember. Having a dog like this feels embarrassing and isolating—you think you’re the only one struggling. Ashlin was very understanding and encouraging. By the end, our confidence grew so much—and Ember loves Ashlin!”

Hi, I'm Ashlin!
I'm the founder of The K9 Mindset Academy.
I’ve helped countless Fraser Valley families transform their relationship with their dogs, especially those struggling with anxiety, overexcitement, or difficult pasts. What I’ve learned is this: obedience alone isn’t enough. True change comes when a dog learns to regulate their emotions. Once calmness is in place, everything else (obedience, recall, manners) falls into line.
At K9MA, there is no “one size fits all.” Every program is customized to your lifestyle and your dog’s mental, physical, and emotional health. We start with positive reinforcement, then build structure using proven methods of operant conditioning. What we never use is fear, pain, or intimidation.
My role is to guide you in clear, safe communication with your dog, including how to use tools like prongs or e-collars responsibly, if they’re right for your dog. The goal isn’t just training, it’s a healthier, calmer, more connected relationship.
