Devoted Dog Owners, One Goal:
A Fulfilling Relationship
Do your walks feel like battles? Does your dog’s anxiety leave you drained? Have you already tried obedience classes in the Fraser Valley and nothing worked?
My clients are devoted dog owners who want one thing: a healthy, fulfilling relationship with their dog. Whether their dog was a rescue or from a backyard breeder, there may be environmental or genetic components that we will never know about.
Those unknowns often surface now as reactivity, nervousness, or nonstop hyperactivity. This isn’t disobedience, it’s an overwhelmed nervous system struggling to cope.
That’s why traditional obedience training often fails. What your overstimulated dog needs most isn’t more commands, it’s emotional regulation, safety, and trust. You can’t erase their past or genetics, but together, we can create a calm and confident state of mind.
The Daily Struggles You Know Too Well
Reactivity and anxiety don’t just affect your dog, they affect your whole life.
Walks are unpredictable and stressful.
Guests bring tension instead of joy.
You rearrange your schedule just to avoid meltdowns.
And despite your effort, guilt creeps in: “Am I failing my dog?”
Maybe you’ve tried:
Obedience classes designed for “easy” dogs
YouTube tutorials that don’t match your reality
Trainers who can’t create lasting change
It’s exhausting. But you’re not alone and it doesn’t have to stay this way.

“I found Ashlin through her Instagram and followed her for a while before reaching out to use her services for our black lab, Ember. Having a dog like this feels embarrassing and isolating—you think you’re the only one struggling. Ashlin was very understanding and encouraging. By the end, our confidence grew so much—and Ember loves Ashlin!”

Introducing the Mindset Reset Program
The Mindset Reset Program is a structured 6-session in-home system that helps your dog:
✔️ Regulate their nervous system
✔️ Replace anxious reactions with calm responses
✔️ Strengthen your bond through clear communication
✔️ Give you lasting tools, not just quick fixes
⚠️ This isn’t a “magic wand.” The sessions are your foundation. The transformation happens when you consistently apply the training and lifestyle changes between sessions. That’s why the program must be completed within 6 months, ideally every 2 weeks for maximum success.
With 90% of my clients, this structure creates lasting change, so they never need another one-on-one trainer again.
Understanding Reactivity (and When Aggression is a Factor)
Reactivity isn’t aggression, it’s the nervous system in overdrive.
Signs of Reactivity:
-
Barking, lunging, or whining at dogs, people, or moving objects
-
Pacing, trembling, or inability to settle in stimulating environments
-
Ignoring commands when distractions appear
-
Overexcitement that spirals into chaos
Dogs often carry invisible baggage, unpredictability, instability, anxiety or overwhelm. We can help you heal that overactive nervous system.
👉 Aggression, however, is different. When intent to harm is present, safety becomes the priority. That’s why in some cases, we introduce muzzle training, not as punishment, but as a safety tool. Many dogs actually relax once muzzled, because their owner feels more confident handling them. We utilize many forms of management, again, with safety being top priority for everyone involved.
That’s why this program focuses on:
-
Nervous System Regulation
-
Clear Communication
-
Systematic Desensitization
-
Counter-Conditioning
-
Handler Confidence
-
Responsible Muzzle Conditioning
We teach you how to change how your dog feels in stressful moments, so calmness becomes the default behaviour.

"We are only halfway through our mindset reset program with Ashlin and the difference in our dog is night and day. Today we successfully walked past dogs instead of crossing the street. Ashlin is generous with her time and answers my emails between sessions. We couldn’t be happier."
Camille
"Going out for walks or any outing with my fur babies were extremely taxing on me - mentally and physically. We signed up for the Mindset Reset Program and now walks are leisurely, enoyable, and most importantly fun for all of us. We are slowly doing things I never thought I would be able to do - like having a chat with people I know while we are out walking, structured walks with other dogs, even going to places which used to be a big NO to my fearful dog. Our experience with her as our coach has been amazing and as a dog mom to 2 reactive dogs, she is a resource I want to share with everyone."
Dani
"My dog and I began with Ashlin’s mindset reset program. Absolutely phenomenal! I will forever recommend her to everyone seeking dog guidance. We are even continuing on our training and participating in her pack walks and obedience classes! Such a well structured environment and extremely judgment free!!"

No Endless Sessions. No Wasted Money.
Unlike most trainers, I don’t lock you into endless sessions.
If by session two I believe this program isn’t a fit, I’ll refund unused sessions. You can move forward with confidence, knowing you won’t waste a penny.
Hi, I'm Ashlin!
I'm the founder of The K9 Mindset Academy.
I’ve helped countless Fraser Valley families transform their relationship with their dogs, especially those struggling with anxiety, overexcitement, or difficult pasts. What I’ve learned is this: obedience alone isn’t enough. True change comes when a dog learns to regulate their emotions. Once calmness is in place, everything else (obedience, recall, manners) falls into line.
At K9MA, there is no “one size fits all.” Every program is customized to your lifestyle and your dog’s mental, physical, and emotional health. We start with positive reinforcement, then build structure using proven methods of operant conditioning. What we never use is fear, pain, or intimidation.
My role is to guide you in clear, safe communication with your dog, including how to use tools like prongs or e-collars responsibly, if they’re right for your dog. The goal isn’t just training, it’s a healthier, calmer, more connected relationship.

FAQ
My dog is a rescue with a difficult past.
Can this help?
Yes. Many of my clients are rescues. You can’t know their full story, but you can help them feel safe, calm, and confident now.
Do I have to use tools like prongs or e-collars?
No. Tools are recommended when helpful but never forced. You decide what works best for your family and your dog.
Will 6 sessions really fix my dog?
The 6 sessions give you the foundation. Success depends on what you practice in between, that’s why consistency is everything.
How soon will I see results?
Most owners notice changes within 2–3 sessions. By session six, 95% of my clients no longer need more training.
I’ve tried trainers before, how is this different?
Most trainers focus on obedience commands. Mindset Reset addresses the root issue: your dog’s ability to calm themselves under stress.
What if this doesn’t work for my dog?
If by session two I see the program isn’t a fit, I’ll refund unused sessions.
