Dog Recall 4 Week Class (Fraser Valley)
Building habits, foundations and a relationship with your dog that lead to a seamless recall!
Service Description
Join us for this four week dog recall class in the Fraser Valley! This class is focused on building habits, foundations and relationship with your dog that lead to a seamless recall. A strong recall is heavily reliant on our everyday relationship and lifestyle with our dogs, which means we don't start recall training off-leash or even on a longline! First, we need to teach our dog engagement, impulse control, and choosing their handler over distractions. This four week class will touch on all of these concepts. Our goal is to give you the habits, techniques and patterns that will lead your dog to a solid recall that is a built in reflex! Recall takes time, especially if we are trying to break out of unwanted habits. Throughout this class, it is expected you are taking what you learned and implementing those skills everyday at home in your day to day life. What To Expect: Week 1: Foundations & Engagement - Communication, proofing obedience, reinforcement, following through and engagement drills Week 2: Relationship & Recall Basics - Exploring play, value and handler relevance, longline mechanics, recall patterns, timing and reinforcement Week 3: Recall Drills (2 handlers for dog required) - Various recall drills: Stationary, restrained, hidden, in motion Week 4: Recall Drills & Scenarios (2 handlers for dog required) - Revisit recall drills and apply your learning to various scenarios and distractions.
